Although often attributed to J. S. Bach because of its inclusion in a collection of harpsichord works that Bach made for his wife, the Minuet in G major was actually written by Christian Petzold. This arrangement pays homage to the flavor of the original by using a traditional chamber wind quintet for the opening measures. Then it morphs into a lively pop version that employs alternate chords and modal settings, counter motion and counter-melodic elements, prepared fifths instead of the modern suspension, and an uplifting key change.
