He Who Would Valiant Be
SATB - Intermediate Difficulty

An arrangement of one of the songs from John Bunyan's "Pilgrim's Progress".

"He Who Would Valiant Be" (also known as "To Be a Pilgrim") was written in 1684 by John Bunyan in part two of his book "Pilgrim’s Progress". I have heard it as a very traditional, organ-driven arrangement and as a Celtic style dance tune. I’ve taken a middle ground – classical but with movement.

I had never heard of the song until I was watching a British comedy called "Keeping Up Appearances", in which two of the least likely characters are conscripted into the church choir to help sing this song. There was enough of it on the show that I was able to transcribe and arrange it.
