About Me

My name is John Daniels and music is my passion. I’ve been writing, playing, arranging and transcribing music since I was in the sixth grade. My music education and experiences have widely broadened my abilities.

Here is some of my background. education and experience:

  • While in high school, I did three arrangements for my high school concert band and one for the senior chorus.
  • I rehearsed and conducted the performances for those arrangements I did.
  • I was in one of the first Christian rock bands for which I arranged the horn parts.
  • I graduated from Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC with a B.A. in music.
  • While in college, I wrote and arranged pit orchestra and show tune music for two theater productions.
  • I helped teach an arrangement class for my fellow students.
  • As a professional musician, I've written and arranged for rock bands, church choirs and school bands, choral groups, string orchestras, pit orchestras for musical theater, recording sessions with strings and horns, even a polka band.
  • I've transcribed music of all kinds, from folk to rock, classical to middle eastern traditional.
  • I've recorded three of my own albums and countless others on which I've either played or arranged for the instruments, as well as doing vocal work.
  • My music has been sold and used in the US, Europe and Australia.

My professional musicianship extends to my recording experience, which is well-rounded as well. The first song I did had about nine parts and I used a ping-pong process. Since then I've progressed to digital recording with all sorts of bells and whistles. I use a hybrid method of modern and old school methods since I record both modern and more traditional music.

I'd consider it a privilege to be able to compose, transcribe, arrange and/or record for you.
