Cantummit Waltz (For Small Band)
Original Composition - Easy Intermediate Difficulty

Suitable for a middle or high school or community band, or even a polka band.

The Cantummit Waltz was originally written for a small pit orchestra. It’s also sort of like a wagon with one eccentric wheel. Because it’s a bit easier to play than most, it’s suitable for a middle school or community band, or even a polka band. But, don’t let its easiness fool you. It has some nice complexity to it as well.

If you have instruments that aren’t in this arrangement, it’s easy enough to add them; and if you are missing instruments that are in this arrangement, it’s no problem to fix that as well. A small fee may apply for exotic instruments.

The name is a contraction of “Can’t Hum It”. I was writing this for a theater production as a dance tune. I asked some friends what a good name for a waltz might be. When they asked me to hum a few bars, I said it was a bit tricky to hum, especially since it was about 2:00 in the morning. They suggested the “I Can’t Hum It” waltz. So I shortened it, and there you have it.

There’s a companion waltz that goes with this one. It’s called the “Humble Waltz”. Take a listen and compare. You can also find out how it got its name.
